May 18, 2023 – Quebec Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, announced on Thursday an investment of nearly $10 million to support the Tangente AI 2.0 project focused on developing future transportation technologies. Tangente AI includes three partner companies: BusPas, Knowledge Providers (better known as KPI Digital), and Carritec Matrices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tangente AI 2.0 project, which totals investments of $19.77 million, aims to develop “a hardware and software solution for connected bus stops, data analysis, and the dissemination of key information for various stakeholders in mobility and smart cities,” according to a statement sent to the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It will also enable the addition of new features and the development of a display for the interiors of bus shelters, demonstrating its real-world usage in Quebec, Canada, and the United States,” the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This government support “will help Quebec in its decarbonization process and thus in its transition to sustainable and intelligent mobility, while creating economic benefits,” stated Mr. Fitzgibbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Quebec government has already supported a first phase of the Tangente AI project with an investment of nearly $3.8 million. The first phase of the project was valued at $11.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The funds were allocated as part of a call for projects on the development of future technologies that took place from July to September 2022. A total of $115.03 million was allocated across four categories: support for mobilizing projects aimed at developing innovative products in the electric vehicle industry; support for mobilizing projects focused on battery development; support for mobilizing projects related to next-generation aircraft technologies; and support for collaborative projects linked to promising aerospace business segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
